Welcome
to our Web site. When we first talked about updating the
site, I saw an opportunity to show you through pictures and words
all that we’ve accomplished since HCHC began in 1989. Since
then, we have created 601units of quality, affordable housing for
low-income families, the homeless, the disabled and seniors. And
we have another 58 units in pre-development.
Our approach is holistic; it’s not just about
housing, it’s about living. We create beautiful, safe environments
where tenants can establish themselves and grow. Our properties
encompass good urban planning, exceptional architectural solutions,
quality construction and diligent property management and maintenance.
A critically important component is the social services that we
provide for our residents. These services are a roadmap to assist
tenants in joining the economic and social mainstream.
I am especially excited to be associated with HCHC
at this particular point in time. Our agency’s staff of bright,
committed individuals believe as I do – that it isn’t
enough just to provide shelter; it is also essential to bring services
and amenities that allow our residents to grow as individuals and
members of the community.
Our future is even brighter. We are looking at new
approaches to land use and housing development. In 2005, we opened
our latest project, Views at 270. This mixed-use development offers
56 units of housing located above new retail space at the intersection
of Sunset Boulevard and Western Avenue. Not only is the land being
used to its best potential, the location allows residents to use
the adjacent Metro line or one of many bus lines which stop at the
corner. Shopping is directly across the street and all levels of
schools are nearby.
Our newest mixed use development, The Mariposa Place,
will include 58 one, two, three and four bedroom units for low income
families, with additional space for offices and retailers, including
a LAPD drop-in center, a for-profit community launderette with after-tax
proceeds benefitting HCHC's supportive service program and the new
home of HCHC. The Mariposa Place is located in a revitalization
area of Los Angeles in East Hollywood.
And finally, our efforts would have been nearly impossible
without the vision and support of Councilman Eric Garcetti, Former
Assemblywoman Jackie Goldberg, the Mayor's office, several Los Angeles
City offices and former Councilman Mike Woo. These elected officials
and their staffs understand and support HCHC’s efforts to
produce affordable housing that improves neighborhoods as well as
the lives of our tenants.
Thanks for stopping by. If we can provide additional
information, please don’t hesitate to contact us. |
